A glance at a man’s shoes sums up his essential attributes. One may wear the most expensive watch or suit, but if the shoes are rubber-soled and leatherette, it tells a sad tale of his taste. Although a pair of handmade shoes may not necessarily follow the latest fashion trends, the time and expertise embodied in their making, suggest the wearer has achieved a certain standard of living.
Traditionally, in order to become an independent cordwainer, after three to five years of apprenticeship, the shoemaker had to sit an exam. In order to pass, he had to present his skill, creativity and sense of exquisiteness in one single pair of shoes. These were his masterpieces.
We aim to achieve that excellence with every pair of shoes we create: not only to satisfy our customers, but to exceed their expectations.
